We All Have A Story
Sometimes it is good to look back and evaluate where you have been and where you are headed. Figure out what your purpose is to move forward. I have prayed for years that my husband, Bob, and I would fulfill all of the purpose God created us for and leave nothing undone when we graduate to heaven.
Since Bob has already transitioned, I know he has fulfilled his purpose and finished his race. That also means that we, as a couple, have finished our mutual assignment. I can check that box. Now I must consider myself. I am still alive so that means I am not done yet and God has more purpose for me to fulfill. But that is not the easiest thing to figure out and move into after so many years of working together with someone.
A friend of mine, Life Purpose Coach, Darlene Larson – “Hearts with a Purpose” suggested that I make a chart from the time I was an adult and chart out every 5 years. First stating where I was and what I was doing during that time period. Then, what I learned about myself and thirdly what I learned about God during that time. It took me awhile to figure it out because we traveled a lot in our mission work. But I would suggest this for anyone who needs to get refocused and define their purpose.
Psalm 145:5 says, “I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works.”
Our story is really God’s story of how He led us and worked in and through us. So, sharing parts of our story with others (our testimony) reveals God’s glory as He is moving on the earth. As your story continues and you keep moving on you are continuing to run your race and pursue your purpose (what God put you on earth to accomplish). We can be assured that God will provide the strength and energy we need daily.
Isaiah 40:31 is a familiar verse but very encouraging when we feel like we are wearing down. “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
I encourage you to take a careful look back over your life, where you have been, and what you have learned about yourself and God along the way. You may be both surprised and encouraged and realize that you have much to share with others about God’s faithfulness as He has been writing your life story. Plus, it will help you clarify what you want to accomplish in the days and years ahead.
