Peace for the Journey

IMG_0602

There is in the heart of every person a desire for peace. Often when we picture that peace, we imagine the absence of trouble. Trouble was not absent from our trip back to Asia this year. We had cancelled flights, a drive to Chicago in less-than-ideal conditions and a missed flight in Qatar. As each one of these situations came up we had peace and God arranged solutions. When our flight from Detroit was cancelled, we had enough time to drive to Chicago. When the rental company said they had no vehicles, a car had just been returned. When we missed our connection in Doha, we were able to get on the next flight and they bought us dinner! God does not promise the absence of trouble but He does promise His peace and presence! We choose to see the “little miracles” along the way and live in His peace. When we travel and the roads are narrow and there is a jackhammer chipping off a car-sized chunk of rock while cars are driving on the road below, God gives His peace.
