Winter comes to Kenya in June and July. At this time temperatures fall below 50 degrees F. Recently we visited Kenya, with the purpose of seeing rural Deaf schools and projects we sponsored there the last few years, to assess needs and see where we can help in the future. Our hearts were moved by their joy as the students excitedly finger spelled their names and asked us ours. One of our greatest needs as humans is the need for relationship, to be known and loved.

There are over 75 deaf schools in Kenya. After visiting only 3 schools and 839 students, we decided that we would begin by sponsoring the installation of solar water heaters for the dorms at 2 of the schools (4 heaters in total). We have just sponsored one heater and would like to do 3 more. The solar water heaters save money as the schools would not need to buy wood and it removes the danger of burns as people heat and carry the hot water. Each unit costs $3,500 and provides hot water for approximately 150 students. We also are hoping to sponsor the education of some Deaf orphans who attend these schools. The cost per sponsorship is $200.00 US per year. If you would like to be a part of realizing this vision please contact us!
