Arts Impact on Our Lives
Art, whether it be paintings, music, stories, or pottery, all show us different aspects of life and culture. It helps us process what we know of history, our personal memories, and life experience in general.
Norman Rockwell a well-known painter and illustrator was known for bringing everyday moments in American Culture to life on canvas and making us smile and remember our own childhood days.
Enrico Nicola “Henry” Mancini was an American composer, conductor, and arranger. His best known works in music include: The Pink Panther Theme, the Peter Gunn Theme, Moon River, and Days of Wine and Roses. These melodies bring different moments back to mind.
When we look at antique glassware, china or pottery from various countries, we reflect on diverse moments in history or the country in which they were created.
All of these forms of art help us realize that many quiet moments make up the fabric of our memories and our life. I have tried my hand at all of these art forms along with macramé, knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. The process of stirring up my creative abilities often does more for me than the end produce of my efforts. The joy isn’t reserved for the finished product but rather in the quiet moments of working to create something new.
Our Christian walk and growth are much the same way. It is a process and takes time and some effort. Holy Spirit is always with us to lead and guide us, but we have to walk out the process of becoming new creatures in Christ. We have to realize that some things in our life will change along the way. Change is happening daily in us and in the world around us.
“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13
One of the Wonderful things about being a Christian is the knowledge that God has an individual plan for our lives. Just as no two flowers are the same, no two snowflakes are the same, so it is with each of us. Why should two Christians be the same? All of us must be like Christ, but we must also be ourselves. We will see His beauty and plan manifested as we allow God to achieve His handiwork in our individual lives.
