An Exciting Opportunity!

It has got to be the best opportunity ever – a win / win situation and it is open to everyone! Here is how it works:

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times,  you may abound in every good work. As it is written, “He has distributed freely, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.” He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:8-11

What an amazing promise we have! God not only provides what we need for ourselves but allows us to overflow into other people’s lives! God makes us sufficient for every situation we encounter. (We aren’t always feeling it but He does.) He provides devine empowerment spiritually, physically, emotionally, mentally, you name it! “Every situation means every situation.”

We can trip ourselves up by trying to evaluate our own abilities. We can listen to the voice of doubt in our head telling us it is too much, too hard, too long, too late, too … you name it.  Or we can take God at His Word and trust Him to give us sufficiency in every situation – not just to survive but to thrive. As we walk this out, we are not only to survive but to abound so there is an overflow to others – those we encounter along the way in daily life.

So what are we talking about sharing here? We can immediately think of finances and certainly finances are a necessary part of life and work all around the world. But also there is so much more we can give: a smile to someone at the grocery store, a word of encouragement to someone going through a difficult time, a card or a visit to someone who is walking through medical challenges or grief. The Word says that God ”gives seed to the sower.” What a privilege! We see a need and we pray about it and God shows us how we can help.  It all just flows from Him through us and out to the point of need in others.  Then praise goes up to God from all of us, those who are helped and those who have an opportunity to be the conduit of God’s blessing to others. I challenge you to get in on the action in any way you are able -everything gets multiplied in God’s economy. There is an old song that says, “if just a cup of water I place within your hand – then just a cup of water is all that I demand.” We are only responsible for what God gives us and  how we manage the resources and opportunities we have in our daily life. It is better to be a conduit than a plugged up pipe!

So, I challenge you to be on the lookout for opportunities to overflow into other lives. When we do something good for someone else, it produces more endorphins in our brain and we feel better too.  There are opportunities all around us so go for it!
